The addition of non-toxic and hypoallergenic body wash & lotion is a natural fit for the brand and means that the same delicious scents used in their effective yet harmless perfumes can now be used to douse your entire body. The Brand
Skylar’s founder, Cat Chen, was working for The Honest Company when she came to the stark realization that perfumes on the market were chock-full of harmful allergens + chemicals, and that there was effectively no safe way to spritz. Taking matters into her own hands, she began crafting natural fragrances that boasted strictly clean ingredients, while remaining focused on innovation and effectiveness. From the naturally-derived and safe synthetic ingredients to the eco-conscious packaging, everything that goes into the brand is thoughtful— something that becomes apparent when you try the products.
The Active Ingredients

As thoughtful ingredients are at the forefront of what Skylar does, it’s no surprise that the body care line is packed full of nourishing oils & hard-working antioxidants. The line is comprised of the Hydrating Body Wash and the Body Lotion; a dynamic duo that are stacked with some incredible plant oils, such as {Rosehip} for a boost of antioxidants, {Hemp} for it’s balancing properties & {Coconut} for intensive moisture. With the addition of ultra-nourishing shea butter and hyaluronic acid, skin is kept soft and moisturized—but never greasy.
I chose Capri as my scent to try as being transported somewhere else by scents is kind of my jam and the idea of a Mediterranean summer is exactly where I wanted to be brought to. Rich with citrus & vetiver and with subtle notes of musk & rose, it’s reminiscent of the desired endless summer. The body care line also comes in fresh Isle, fruity and sweet Coral and floral-rich Meadow—all of which smell like the real thing, since flowers, fruits & botanicals are used to create the unique scents.
The Verdict
As someone who has constantly struggled with dry skin, I was happy to see that the body wash didn’t strip my skin of its natural oils and instead, retained and locked in moisture for the entirety of my day. It’s gentle enough to use as an all-over cleansing wash and moisturizing enough to double as a shaving gel, which makes it an automatic winner for this here minimalist. The foaming formula gives me that squeaky-clean feeling without removing any moisture so that my overly-sensitive skin is left balanced and moisturized.
The body lotion was lighter in formulation than expected, but that didn’t take from the effectiveness of the product one bit. After every use, my skin is happily hydrated; thanked in full to the hard-working hyaluronic acid & rich shea butter. I admired that the lotion was only lightly scented, as I usually gravitate towards unscented formulations. Call me a convert, since the lotion lifted my mood every time I put it on, yet was softly-scented enough that I didn’t have a sensory overload.
The retail prices are $24 for the lotion and $28 for the wash. Although the products can be purchased separately, I’d advise you not to forego one for the other—as kinda like PB&J, these products belong together. Skylar offers a Body Bundle for $40, which is available through its extremely flexible subscription program. Simply sign up and select the frequency in which you’d like to receive your bundle. As it’s based on everyone’s differing needs, you can choose from options such as every 6 weeks or even every other month, with the ability to update your preferences as needed.
